Bil.Co

A few projects are in the Koan.of pipeline but our first was the brainchild of Bill, born out of the dearth of creative outlets during the COVID pandemic lockdown of Spring 2020. As they say, necessity is the mother of invention. The grand roadmap for this is to follow but our first drop is the seed that sparked it all: The Studio by Bil.Co

Whilst the pandemic was kicking off full swing in extra super locked down NYC (aka Bill’s home), he was unable to visit his beloved studio and community at UrbanGlass to do as he does daily, make work.

This left him to his wits, his daughter’s legos and plenty of time. What came of this you ask?

A set of 50 unique, handmade stop-motion animation homages, celebrating not only the art of glassmaking but also the thriving community of artists and makers in downtown Brooklyn, NY. The series, entitled The Studio (a nod to The Office, another inspiring glimpse at an everyday workplace) was produced completely from his Battery Park City abode on his Samsung Galaxy phone with the occasional assist from his daughter, Keira, and released on a daily schedule in hopes of keeping his network of friends and glassmakers far and wide connected during that overtly disconnected time for all of us. The series ended up resonating with a much wider audience than that, inspired a few additional project concepts by Bill in the interim and was recently juried into the acclaimed New Glass Review from the Corning Museum of Glass. That’s right, legos in a glass museum. Now that’s transcendent.
